Zoopharmacognosy/ botanical choices
This is a very exciting modality. It is based on the premise that the animal knows what it needs to heal.
The skill in the practitioner comes from knowing what to offer. The session takes between 1 to 2 hours and the animal will be offered a selection of herbs, minerals and essential oils.
It works very well for emotional issues like anxiety, vices, moving to a new home, and fear of the farrier.
It is also very effective in dealing with pain, gastrointestinal issues, and inflammation.

I will often add essential oils and offer herbs as part of the session if appropriate.

Pre event massage
This is most beneficial 2 hours before an event. It energizes and warms up the muscles, fills them with oxygenated blood and helps prevent injury.
Post event massage.
This is done once the horse has returned to normal after the exercise. It speeds recovery, reduces any trauma that has occurred and helps prevent further injury.
This would be the ideal therapy session for your horse after completing the Beara Bridle Way It will decrease stiffness, reduce injury and facilitate return to work.

TENS and NEMS
Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) and Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES), are both forms of electrotherapy that target our nerves via a mild electrical current. The primary purpose of TENS is to provide pain relief, whereas NMES is used to treat muscular weakness.

Equine K-Taping
Elastic tape was developed in the 1970s in Japan. The method originated from the principles of the ‘Kinematics’ known under the English term ‘Kinesiology’. Created in Japan this therapy was later practiced and expanded upon in Korea.
This tape is different than normal white athletic tape. Upon application the kinesiotape alleviates muscle strain in order to activate the self-healing ability of the body. The “lifting” effect of the tape on the skin causes various sensory systems in the body are activated which provides immediate improvement in function that allows for a faster recovery from various injuries and complaints.
K-taping is a highly effective performance support and therapeutic modality that has gained popularity in recent years due to its ability to help support the body's natural healing processes. This innovative technique involves the application of specialized tapes to the body to address a wide range of soft tissue injuries, support musculoskeletal structures, prevent injuries, and benefit the circulatory, lymphatic, and nervous systems.
Cost depends on the amount of tape used, but starts at € 20 and is no more than €40.
